Romans 8:31-39
Discuss
What does this teach us about God?
God loves us and is for us! He gave His Son for us to be saved. God is just (He is right and fair) and He justified us (made us right with Him) through Jesus. With God on our side, nothing that tries to come against us will succeed. He is mighty!
What does this teach us about man?
We will conquer over the things that try to come against us because of what Jesus Christ did for us. Nothing can separate us from God once we have become one with Christ through our faith!
How should we respond?
When we read about the goodness of God and the security He offers us through Jesus Christ, it should cause us to repent of our sin and rejoice in His love. But if we have not yet put our faith in Jesus, that will not be the response we have. If you or your child has not made the decision to put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, take time to talk about the only two responses we have when we hear the gospel, either to repent and turn to God or reject and turn away from God. Your conversation should not bring shame or pressure on them but rather help them think for themselves.
Romans 2:4 says, “…God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance…”
Pray
We know, God, that You will one day judge the world for sin. We all deserve to be punished for our sin, but we thank You for showing Your love by sending Jesus to die on the cross. You have promised to save those who trust in Jesus, and through Him You will make all things new.
