Week of 8.14.2022 | Day Two
Read
1 Kings 8:22
Read over some of the details of the Temple in this chapter and point out how much went into making it a beautiful place for God to dwell with His people.
Consider watching The Bible Project video on the Temple to help them understand its significance.
Discuss
What characteristics of God does Solomon point out in this passage?
Does God need a temple to dwell in?
No, God does not need a temple, He is omnipresent (everywhere). The Temple acts as a symbol reminding us that the whole earth is His dwelling place. God’s desire has always been to dwell with His creation, but sin separates us from God. The temple was a way for Him to dwell amongst His people and was a foreshadowing of His following becoming His dwelling place through Jesus Christ.
Pray
O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above or on earth beneath! We worship you for who you are. Merciful and just, forgiving our sins through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Thank you God for giving us salvation through faith in Christ! It is in His name we pray, Amen.
