Review

Review the memory verse and catechism for this week:

Revelation 7:9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,

Week 8 Catechism:What is the law of God stated in the Ten Commandments? You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony. You shall not covet.

Pray

God, thank you for giving us rest. You created us with limitations and command us to rest to remember You and all You provide. Help us rest in You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Play

Choose a fun activity to do together as your family rests from work. Here are some examples:

  • Bake some bread
  • Make cards to send to someone you love
  • Have a movie night. Screen the movie beforehand and give your kids prompting questions to think about as they watch. Here are some suggestions: What themes do we see in this movie? What does the Bible have to say about this? Is this something we know to be true or know to be a lie? Does this draw me closer to God or push me away? Does this encourage me to live in obedience to God’s word or live for the world? Is this something I would want to imitate or not?
