Here are some verses for your family to read about the serpent, Satan:

Genesis 3:1a Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

John 8:44b …He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

What does this teach us about Satan, our enemy?

This may seem a little scary, but remember God is all powerful and nothing can overcome Him. Who did God send to conquer our enemy, Satan?

How can you resist and fight against our enemy, Satan? Help kids to see that through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can resist the enemy!

Lead your family in a time of prayer over what you read.

Consider the ACTS model (Adoration- Adore or praise God, Confession- Confess sin, Thanksgiving- Thank God, and Supplication- Ask God to supply your needs)

Today we will focus on A-Adore: God, you are Sovereign, ruling over all creation. You are Truth and in you there is no lie. We recognize we have an enemy who seeks to deceive us with his lies, but You have come to us in Truth to bring us life, through Jesus Christ our Savior. In You Lord, we can resist the enemy and have eternal life! In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
