Week of 11.21.2021 | Day TWO
The Big Picture Question
Who is in control of everything? God is in control of everything in heaven and on earth. Nothing is outside of God’s good plan.
Read
Genesis 39:19-23, 41:1-36
Before reading, explain to the kids that Joseph was a slave in Potiphar’s house. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him of wrongdoing. Potiphar’s wife lied and said that Joseph did something that he did not do. This is where we pick up in verse 19.
Questions
Q: What are some things you are good at? Why do you think God has given you talents?
A: What special ability did God give Joseph? That’s right, he was able to interpret dreams. God gave this ability to Joseph because Joseph was able to use it to become a high-ranking official in Egypt. God gives all of us talents, abilities, or gifts. Sometimes we don’t know what they are right away. But every ability we have is something we can use to glorify God and help others. What are some ways you can use your talents to bless other people and honor God?
Q: How did God use Joseph’s suffering for good?
A: Although Joseph was falsely accused and unjustly put in prison, he was able to save Egypt from the effects of the great famine through the ability God gave him to interpret Pharaoh’s dream.
Pray
- Thank God for giving us each special gifts and talents. Ask Him to help us to use those to glorify Him.
- Pray for those you know that are suffering. Ask God to help them endure and to use the suffering for His glory.
