What were some of the ways the disciples knew the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus had promised, had come to dwell in them?
Help kids point out the amazing things they witnessed at Pentecost:
Sound- mighty rushing wind
Sight- they saw fiery tongues
Speech- they were able to speak in languages they never knew before.
How did the people who were gathered there react to the disciples when they witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit?
Help kids see the mixed reactions. Some were in awe and amazed while others made fun of them and called them crazy.
Explain that when we put our faith in Jesus, we too are filled with the Holy Spirit.
There are many ways the Holy Spirit works in our lives. Jesus said in John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” He also said in John 16:7-8, “…if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin.”
Pray
Spend time praying. Praise God for sending the Holy Spirit to help us understand the Bible, have conviction of sin, and have the power to live for God!
